A video has emerged online showing a towing company’s mission to save a yacht stranded on the rocks at a popular beach.
Clayton’s Towing shared the video, which has been cut together with drone footage from Mark Parcell, in the Double Island Point Facebook group over the weekend.
The caption reads the 10m yacht was caught in rough conditions at sea and ran ashore onto the Mudlo Rocks at Rainbow Beach last weekend.
It was labelled as a “time critical recovery”, as the next high tide would have smashed yacht apart against the “famous 4WD-destroying rocks”.
In a small window of time, the Clayton’s Towing crew managed to recover the boat off the sandy rocks and onto a supertilt truck, before taking it to their holding yard, the post concluded.
In the footage, an excavator can be seen pushing the boat off a rock which had left a scrape on the hull of the vessel.
The boat then teetered onto its other side, and was winched up onto the tray of the truck.
The Clayton’s Towing truck then takes off on the beach with the boat secured on its side, as waves creep further up on the shore.
