A rescue helicopter has been called after a car carrying two teenage girls slid down a steep embankment on a rural Sunshine Coast hinterland road.

Firefighters freed a pair from a car after it slid down a steep embankment on a Sunshine Coast hinterland road and a rescue helicopter rushed a teenage girl to hospital.
Emergency services were called to the scene on Maleny Kenilworth Rd at Witta, near Maleny at 11.18am Monday, June 12 to reports a car had driven down a steep embankment.
A Queensland Police Service spokesman said the car had reportedly slid off the road.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said one crew had arrived on-scene at 11.45am and three other crews were on their way.
Firefighters had freed one girl from the vehicle at midday with another trapped for longer.
One of the teens was transported in a stable condition with minor injuries by road to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital.
Paramedics stabilised the other teenager, who had suffered significant leg and pelvic injuries, before she was flown to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
The road was closed for several hours with traffic control in place.
Firefighters left the scene about 1.10pm.
