Sunshine Coast hooning video: Five men charged, issued infringements

First-hand footage filmed by alleged hoons has helped Sunshine Coast police in charging and issuing fines to five men for burnouts and dangerous driving. WATCH THE VIDEO:

Dangerous driving, fishtails and burnouts all captured on social media footage has led to Sunshine Coast police charging and fining five men.

Police executed a search warrant at a Parkland Close, Birtinya home in January 2022 after videos of dangerous driving behaviours emerged on social media.

Further investigations detected more dangerous driving offences allegedly committed by five other people.

One of the videos shows passengers and bystanders filming cars weaving across double white lines on blind corners as well as performing fishtails and burnouts.

Police are seen in the video issuing fines to two men following a protracted investigation into hooning.

Three men will face Maroochydore Magistrates Court charged with an array of dangerous driving offences.

An 18-year-old Birtinya man was charged with two counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and one of possessing dangerous drugs and possessing utensils.

He will appear in court on April 19, 2022, and was also issued with four fines for creating undue noise and smoke by manner of operation.

An 18-year-old Mountain Creek man was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle in connection with a burnout and will appear in court at a later date.

Another 18-year-old man was issued with two infringements for creating undue noise and smoke.

Two men, aged 20 and 36, were issued an infringement for creating undue noise and smoke.

The 36-year-old Mountain Creek man was issued an additional infringement for the same offence and was also charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle in connection with a burn out.

He will appear in court on May 19, 2022.
