Sippy Downs man arrested following alleged car stealing at Mooloolaba
A man was left at the roadside with broken bones after he tried to stop his own car being stolen at a popular Mooloolaba location.

A man was rushed to a Sunshine Coast hospital with broken bones after he tried to stop his own car being stolen in Mooloolaba.
The 35-year-old parked his car at the Mooloolaba wharf yesterday afternoon, April 10, before heading to the beach.
Criminal Investigation Branch officer-in-charge Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Mansfield alleged the man returned to his vehicle to find a 30-year-old Sippy Downs man behind the wheel.
Police will allege the Sippy Downs man was in the process of stealing the Subaru Forester and the alleged victim tried to intervene as the man drove off.
“He reached into the vehicle and got caught up,” he said police will allege .
The detective said the alleged victim fell under the vehicle and the driver sped off.
The man was taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital with broken bones.
“It’s run over his legs,” Sergeant Mansfield said of police’s allegations .
Police later found the car and arrested the driver in Sippy Downs.
The detective said police would wait on a doctor’s report before considering further charges.
The Sippy Downs man was due to face the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Tuesday, April 11 charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and dangerous driving.
