A 50-year-old Buderim mum caused thousands of dollars in damage after she drunkenly damaged parts of a house before driving into a car and damaging a boat.
Sharon Marie Browne will have to pay $6957 in restitution for her intoxicated drive in Bokarina on December 4, 2021.
Caloundra Magistrates Court heard Browne had damaged a glass panel door while she was at a residence before she drove into a car and damaged a boat.
Police prosecutor Stephen Potter told the court she then drove off at speed.
She didn’t get far as she rocketed into a parked car 80m down the street.
Residents rushed out to see the incident unfold while police checked on Browne who they found with cans of beer in her vehicle.
Sergeant Potter said Browne was “grossly intoxicated” .
Sergeant Potter said the community would be appalled by Browne’s driving where it was just “sheer good luck” that no one was seriously injured.
The court was told Browne caused nearly $7000 worth of damages during the evening.
Defence solicitor Anna Smith said the 50-year-old mother had turned to drinking following the breakdown of her relationship and her mental health issues were deteriorating
Ms Smith said there was no excuse for her behaviour that evening which had left her with several injuries which required her to spend several days in hospital.
Browne pleaded guilty to two counts of wilful damage (domestic violence offence) and one of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle while adversely affected and she was sentenced to 18 months’ probation.
She was also ordered to pay restitution and was disqualified from driving for 18 months, with convictions recorded.
