A plasterer who allegedly stabbed a man four times including in his scrotum has had his bail revoked, a court has heard.

Nathan Anthony Yeates allegedly used a “knuckleduster knife” to stab a man in the scrotum and bicep four times on February 19, 2022 in Landsborough.

Maroochydore Magistrates Court heard the alleged victim needed eight stitches in his right bicep and three in his scrotum.

Police prosecutor James Allen said Mr Yeates was on bail for an alleged violent assault when he attacked the man.

Mr Allen said the 27-year-old was drunk when he allegedly unleashed a one-punch attack at the Mundubbera pub on November 20, 2021.

“It’s an unprovoked assault where (Mr Yeates) … without warning punched the victim’s head with a closed fist, knocking him to the ground,” he said.

“The victim's head hit the concrete knocking him unconscious.”

The Dicky Beach resident was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and was granted bail in Caloundra.

Mr Allen said the alleged stabbing was “serious offending” and said Mr Yeates bail should be revoked.

“It certainly puts the community at risk as a result of the actual physical violence relating to the wounding,” he said.

He said Mr Yeates was not in danger of spending too much time in custody if he was convicted of the offences.

Duty lawyer Neesha Maidwell said Mr Yeates’ bail shouldn’t be revoked in relation to the alleged Mundubbera assault.

Ms Maidwell said a high dosage of two medications and alcohol contributed to the alleged wounding.

She said Mr Yeates’ medication had been reduced since the alleged offending and his mood had “stabilised”.

She said Mr Yeates who was working part-time as a plasterer and receiving counselling wouldn’t be able to continue his rehabilitation if he was remanded in custody.

Magistrate Haydn Stjernqvist said the community needed to be protected from Mr Yeates’ alleged offending.

Mr Stjernqvist said if convicted he believed Mr Yeates would serve time behind bars.

He approved the police application to revoke Mr Yeates’ bail.
