A member of the public has found a body at the Mooloolaba Marina that Queensland Police believe is Nambour man Nate Preston.

Senior Sergeant Brett Young said Sunshine Coast Police were called to the grim discovery earlier today, June 11, 2022, near a pier outside the marina office.

He said a member of the public had found the body.

A police media spokeswoman said they believe the body was that of the missing Nambour man but formal identification was yet to take place.

Mr Preston, 20, went missing on May 22 when he left a Mooloolaba unit about midnight.

Family and mates raised the alarm that the forklift operator was missing after he failed to show up to work on May 24.

Friends previously told the Sunshine Coast Daily that they were “broken” by not knowing his whereabouts.

Sunshine Coast detectives were using every skill they could to find the missing man including hydro technology to assess flows in the tide in the Mooloolaba canals.

Police divers from Brisbane had also searched the canals and scoured the sea floor in efforts to find him.
