Man arrested in Alexandra Headland after alleged incident with firearm

Police have arrested a man after he allegedly pulled a gel blaster from a bag near businesses on a quiet Sunshine Coast street on Wednesday morning.

A man has been arrested after an alleged incident involving a firearm on the Sunshine Coast on Wednesday morning.

Police were called to Gardak Street in Alexandra Headland about 8.20am to reports of a person with a firearm.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said a staff member at a nearby business had called police after a man they alleged was affected by drugs or alcohol had wandered into the area and was acting erratic before pulling what appeared to be a gun out of a bag.

It was later confirmed the weapon was a gel blaster.

The man has since been taken into custody but has not yet been charged.

The spokeswoman said the alleged victim has not made a complaint to police over the incident.
