A pregnant Nambour woman has been remanded in custody for an alleged petty crime spree, despite saying she didn’t want to undergo “labour in handcuffs”.

Madison Kate-Lee Collins cut a dejected figure in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Monday after being refused bail on charges of three counts of entering a premises with intent and entering a premises to commit an indictable offence.

These charges join a grocery list of other charges the 24-year-old was already on bail for including counts of fraud, receiving tainted property, and possessing dangerous drugs.

Some of her allegations include entering Woolworths at Big Top Maroochydore and stealing on February 14, similar offending at the Mantra Mooloolaba Resort on March 8 and at the Barbican Apartments at Mooloolaba between March 27 and March 30.

Police allege she also stole a bank card on April 1, tried to dishonestly gain goods twice on April 1 and possessed marijuana on May 4 while also possessing prescription drugs.

It’s further alleged by police in court documents Collins entered Surfair Central Tower at Marcoola between June 23 and June 26 in 2023 and committed an indictable offence by stealing.

Duty lawyer Michael Robinson said the Nambour woman was 29 weeks pregnant and had an ultrasound booked for Monday, the day she was in court, because she found out she was expecting last week.

Mr Robinson was instructed the 23-year-old had been suffering from “behavioural fluctuations” over recent months.

He told the court she identified herself to police in CCTV for some of the alleged offences however didn’t identify her co-offender.

Police prosecutor Jeanette Grigoris said part of the raids on her home allegedly uncovered one of two scooters allegedly stolen.

Sergeant Grigoris said there was CCTV footage of her at a location committing the alleged offences, and cited to the court she only signed bail on her previous charges on May 5.

The court heard she also breached her bail on May 15 by not reporting.

Collins spoke directly to acting magistrate Anna Smith as her conditional freedom hung in the balance.

“I don’t want to give labour in handcuffs,” she told the court from the watch house by video link.

Ms Smith said the case was strong against her, where it was alleged she committed the offences while on bail, parole and probation.

Collins’ bail was refused and had her matters adjourned to June 10.
