The shattered partner of a popular Pacific Paradise dad has paid tribute to her long-term partner as the tight-knit community mourns the loss of one of their own.

The disappearance of Luke Woods, 38, had sparked a desperate two-day search after his belongings were found at Mudjimba Beach on July 28, 2022.

Police said he was last seen alive leaving a Namba St home that afternoon, with dozens of State Emergency Service and lifeguard volunteers scouring the North Shore area looking for Mr Woods.

Sadly the 38-year-old’s body was found on Mudjimba Beach on Saturday, July 30, 2022.

In the days since his passing those close to Mr Woods have remembered the beloved dad as a kind and caring soul.

His partner Kara Poletti said the couple had only just celebrated their 17th anniversary, sharing “so many amazing years and memories together”.

“Luke was an absolutely amazing, thoughtful and kind partner and friend and an incredible father to our two sons, always spending so much time with them, they were his world,” Ms Poletti said.

“He was a hardworking family man and will be terribly missed, our lives will never be the same and there will always be a massive hole in our hearts.”

Ms Poletti said his passing had come as an enormous shock to their family and friends, but they had been overwhelmed with support, wanting to thank all police, lifesavers, SES volunteers, family and friends who helped in the search.

“The amount of resources that went into looking for Luke was mind blowing and heartwarming,” she said.

“I truly appreciate everyone’s love and support throughout the hardest time in our lives.”

Ms Poletti and her sons were hoping to establish a park bench at access point 132 near Mudjimba Beach in memory of the 32-year-old Pacific Paradise dad.

Close friend Brook Campbell said he would remember Mr Woods as a “great mate and father” with his heart going out to the 38-year-old’s family.

Mr Campbell said he and Mr Woods would spend their time building skateboard ramps and skateboards for their kids, along with surfing and fishing.

He described Mr Woods as a hard worker who would help anyone.
