Caloundra Magistrates Court heard Schmidt came to the jail to visit her partner when she was detained for a search.

Police prosecutor Stephen Potter said facility staff were notified Schmidt was bringing contraband into the prison.

She later told police she had “subbies” in her car.

Sergeant Potter said 122 strips of buprenorphine were found in a black container in her vehicle, with the 31-year-old saying she was told to leave them in the car.

Buprenorphine, or subutex, can be prescribed for opiate dependence.

Schmidt was not charged with supplying or smuggling drugs into the prison.

Sergeant Potter estimated the street value of the drugs was between $30,000 to $40,000.

The court heard Schmidt was on a five-year suspended jail sentence for drug trafficking in 2016.

Defence lawyer Ben Rynderman said his client brought the drugs to the jail because of a “misguided relationship decision” and debated the estimated street value of the drugs.

Mr Rynderman told the court the 31-year-old had made considerable steps in her rehab since being sentenced in the Brisbane Supreme Court five years ago.

Schmidt pleaded guilty to possessing dangerous drugs and was recommitted to the Brisbane Supreme Court for breaching her suspended sentence.

A conviction was recorded.
