A Warana woman convicted over killing two young mechanics while they repaired a broken down bus will return to court in May to be sentenced over a separate charge relating to the fatal crash, a court has been told.

Maroochydore Magistrates Court was told on Monday, April 22, Kelly Renee Liddicoat, 45, will face the court to be sentenced for one charge of driving under the influence.

Liddicoat, who is serving a prison sentence over a fatal crash at Woombye in 2022, did not appear in court in person.

Court documents state this new charge is related to a fatal crash on Nambour Connection Rd in Woombye on April 21, 2022, where Liddicoat struck and killed Currimundi man Aaron Pitt, 25, and Baringa man Lleyton Bartlett, 22, while they repaired a broken down bus.

Liddicoat had a cocktail of prescription medication in her system at the time, which caused her to feel “groggy”.

She was sentenced to six and a half years in prison on April 16 after she was found guilty in October 2023 of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance.

She will be eligible for parole in April 2026.

Liddicoat will return to the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on May 13.
