Jasmine Brianna Clay tied to Cashmere armed robbery

The fingerprints of a former real estate agent were found on a pre mixed can of liquor inside a stolen car seen at an armed robbery. See what happened when she faced court.

A former real estate agent with a three page criminal history has been sentenced in court for drug driving, unlawful use of a vehicle and failure to appear.

Jasmine Brianna Clay, 28, pleaded guilty to three charges at Noosa Magistrates Court on Tuesday January 24.

Ms Clay was not charged with any robbery offence.

Police prosecutor Alison Johnstone told the court a Toyota FJ Cruiser was reported stolen from Bradman St in Caboolture on February 17, 2022.

A set of keys was also reported missing.

At 11.50am on February 19 the vehicle was sighted in Cashmere during an armed robbery.

The vehicle stopped for fuel in Helidon at 8.03pm on February 20 and was displaying a set of fake plates which appeared to be printed on paper, the prosecutor said.

The vehicle was followed by police officers away from an address in Mount Tarampa at 9pm and “was subject to a tyre deflation device which rendered the vehicle inoperable”.

“The occupants of the vehicle decamped on foot and were unable to be located,” Sergeant Johnstone said.

Clay’s fingerprints were found on a pre mixed can of liquor and pair of sunglasses inside the vehicle.

A mobile phone and driver’s license in the name of a Ryan Daniel Ward were also found.

At 3pm on Tuesday June 7, 2022 Clay tested positive to methamphetamine while in the passenger seat of a Holden vehicle parked on Claude Batten Drive in Noosa Heads and an arrest warrant was executed.

Lawyer Jaimee Burns who represented Clay told the court her client had been a real estate agent from 2014 – 2018 and now worked part time in packaging and distribution.

Ms Burns said Clay’s sister died by suicide in 2015 and she had “turned to drugs to self medicate”.

Ms Burns said Clay had been in a relationship with the co-accused, but had moved away from “destructive associates” and was now living with her father.

“They haven’t had contact since October 2022,” Ms Burns said.

She also told the court her client had significant

ly decreased her drug usage over the last three years.

Magistrate Haydn Stjernqvist urged Clay to “abstain completely from illicit substances and not hang around anyone that tends to mirror all of that criminality”.

He gave Clay a nine month suspended sentence for an operational 18 months.

She was also issued with a $700 fine.
