A Sunshine Coast cleaner has said ‘cheers, mate’ to a magistrate after she attacked a policeman drunk and on drugs before she was found with prescription narcotics in her bag.

Australia's growing drug crisis

A young Bli Bli woman has said “cheers, mate” to a magistrate after being sentenced for attacking police while on drugs and alcohol in Mountain Creek.

Hannah Madison Ogilvie, 25, was fined $650 for assaulting a police officer on the evening of June 13, 2022 after she was denied access to her girlfriend’s ambulance.

Police prosecutor James Allen said officers were at the Mountain Creek address for another matter when they asked Ogilvie to step away from the ambulance.

Mr Allen quoted Ms Ogilvie said on the evening, saying “do you want me to go and f--- a police”.

“That’s wrong, that’s not what I said,” Ogilvie said in court.

Mr Allen continued with the schedule of facts and said Ogilvie then yelled at officers about another friend’s murder.

The court heard the 23-year-old then pushed one of the officers in the chest with both her hands with force before she was arrested.

Police said Ogilvie’s eyes were droopy and she was slow to speak, with the 25-year-old telling officers her and her girlfriend had been taking drugs and drinking that night.

A search of her shoulder bag then uncovered alprazolam.

Duty lawyer Ben Rynderman said the Bli Bli cleaner had reacted emotionally during that situation and had been taking steps to address her mental health.

Ogilvie pleaded guilty to assaulting police and possessing drugs.

A conviction was recorded.

“Cheers, mate”, Ogilvie said to Magistrate Haydn Stjernqvist after her sentencing as she left the courtroom.
