Amanda Kourtney Joy McDougall charged with possessing drugs in Maroochydore

The purity of meth will determine whether a Sunshine Coast woman will have her charge downgraded after she was allegedly found with ice at a Queensland courthouse.

A Sunshine Coast woman has faced court after allegedly being found with meth at the Maroochydore Courthouse.

Police allege Amanda Kourtney Joy McDougall, 33, was found with ice over the schedule three quantity along Cornmeal Pde in Maroochydore on July 29, 2022.

Defence lawyer Patrick Meehan asked for the charge to be adjourned to her other matters on September 2, 2022.

Police prosecutor James Allen said there would be case conferencing needed as the current charge could only be finalised in the District Court.

Mr Allen said with the plastic bag the gross amount was over the scheduled quantity but said it might go under if it was tested.

“The purity of the meth is around 70 per cent usually, cocaine is of very poor quality,” Mr Allen said.

Magistrate Haydn Stjernqvist adjourned Ms McDougall’s matter to September 2, 2022 and she left the court on bail charged with possessing meth over the schedule three quantity.
