A man has died at the scene of a car and caravan crash along the Bruce Hwy on the Sunshine Coast after police and paramedics performed CPR for nearly an hour.

A NSW man has died at the scene of a car and caravan crash along the Bruce Hwy near Cooroy.

Emergency services rushed to the scene of the crash in Eerwah Vale about 12.40pm on Tuesday July 19, 2022, heading northbound.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said they treated a man who was in a critical condition.

A 63-year-old NSW man sadly died at the scene and it was understood he suffered a medical event which reportedly caused the crash.

Traffic backed up northbound on the Bruce Hwy after crash near Cooroy

Eumundi officer in charge Ryan Hanlon said the vehicle came to a slow halt into the central barrier, with police performing CPR on scene on the driver for 45 minutes.

Sergeant Hanlon said paramedics arrived and worked on the 63-year-old but he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Queensland Police and firefighting crews were also on scene with delays expected.

According to the Department of Transport and Main Roads website, all lanes were affected on the Bruce Hwy near Cooroy Hill.

Forensic Crash Unit officers were investigating the crash.
