A Little Mountain woman has been released from custody after admitting to committing a several month crime spree which included crashing a stolen car.

Maroochydore Magistrates Court heard her crimes stretched from Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast, including the suburbs of Windsor, Ashgrove, Marcoola, Buderim, Buddina and Moffat Beach between October 17, 2023 and May 27, 2024.

Her crimes ranged from unlawfully using motor vehicles, stealing fuel, taking motorcycles, driving unlicensed, possessing drugs and bail breaches partnered with stealing people’s car keys.

She pleaded guilty to 19 charges while in custody in court on Tuesday.

The court heard a lot of Hogno’s offences were committed while on bail and a probation order, where she would drive stolen cars, including crashing her pilfered ride into another vehicle on a roundabout before driving off.

Police prosecutor Bec Lambert said the Little Mountain woman provided limited cooperation to authorities after being arrested for her “opportunistic and simple” offending.

Senior Constable Lambert said the 22-year-old was effectively “holding the keys to her own future” if she wants to stay out of jail.

She told the court Hogno spent 120 days in custody after her bail was refused in late May.

Defence lawyer Patrick Meehan said in a letter penned by the 22-year-old to the court, she spoke about learning a lot while being on remand, with it being the “best option” for her to get clean from drugs.

Mr Meehan said in the letter Hogno said she had “trained” herself to have her own back and learnt coping mechanics to get away from drugs.

Her lawyer said she was “under the influence” of a love interest who was her co-accused on some of the offences, while other charges were committed during a time of desperation, drug use and depression due to being homeless.

The court heard Hogno’s co-accused was convicted on the charges he was involved with which were an unlawful use of a motor vehicle, a fuel drive off and a trespass along with other unrelated offences. Senior Constable Lambert said he was sentenced to six months’ jail with immediate parole release.

Hogno told acting magistrate Anna Smith she planned to live in Burpengary with family following her release and wanted to work in warehousing.

Ms Smith said one of the more serious offences included Hogno gaining entry into a storage unit where she stole keys and took a car, but accepted she was young at the time, suffered from drug addiction and was battling bouts of homelessness.

Hogno was given a head sentence of 18 months’ jail, but was granted parole release as of Tuesday, with her 120 days in custody declared as time served.

Convictions were recorded.
