An adult entertainer who got caught up in another person’s search warrant has pleaded guilty to drug possession in a Noosa court.

Danelle Skie Tamara West-Sooby, 33, of Tewantin faced the Noosa Magistrates Court on September 13, 2022, charged with possessing cannabis and diazepam, possessing glass pipes and possessing S4 or S8 medicines.

She pleaded guilty to all charges.

Magistrate Haydn Stjernqvist sentenced her to four months in prison, suspended for a year.

Police prosecutor Phillip Stephens said West-Sooby was asleep in a bedroom when police searched her home about 6.40am on August 11, 2022.

Sergeant Stephens said police found seven diazepam tablets in the room, cannabis and diazepam in her pocket and in the living area police found two glass pipes.

He said the defendant told police the items belonged to her.

“She stated the Baclofen tablets had been given to her by a friend for back pain but could not provide a prescription,” Sergeant Stephens said.

He said the defendant also told police she had been prescribed diazepam but could not provide a prescription for that either.

The police prosecutor said West-Sooby’s drug history was “significant” and spanned about 10 years.

“It shows a person who consistently uses drugs,” Sergeant Stephens said.

The police prosecutor said a suspended jail sentence was a possible sentence for the offending, given her history and the small amounts of drugs found.

Duty lawyer Bernard Bradley said the quantity of cannabis was about 1g or a “$20 bag of cannabis”.

The court heard the adult entertainer, who earned between $500 and $1000 a night, was using the tablets for back pain and self-medicating for anxiety using the cannabis.

Mr Bradley said the defendant was caught up in a search warrant that had another person’s name on it.

“She was caught up in that cross-fire, so to speak,” he said.

The lawyer said a short term of imprisonment or a significant fine was in range for the offending.

Mr Stjernqvist said the sentences she had faced over the years should act as a deterrent and they did not.
