A woman has been subjected to road rage terror along the Sunshine Mwy at the hands of an angry Maroochydore concreter.

Daryn Bishoff continued his “persistent and appalling bad driving” during the morning of March 26, where Maroochydore Magistrates Court heard the 39-year-old caused more than $4000 damage to a woman’s vehicle due to his dangerous driving.

Police prosecutor Brendan Newman told the court on Wednesday the victim was driving along Kawana Way at Mountain Creek about 8.30am when Bishoff gave her the finger, gestured her to pull over and brake checked her several times.

Sergeant Newman said when the woman entered the Sunshine Mwy, Bishoff drove up along the left side of her car and forced his way ahead of the victim.

The court heard the back of his car then made contact with the front of the woman’s, causing damage.

Bishoff came to a complete stop in the middle of the motorway before he hopped out of his vehicle and abused the victim, who was forced to stop behind him.

He drove off along the Mountain Creek exit along the Sunshine Mwy when he stopped once again and got out of his car, which forced the woman to stop once more.

“F---ing open the door,” Bishoff yelled at the woman at her driver’s side door, according to Sergeant Newman.

Bishoff then punched the woman’s window before he kicked its door several times causing significant damage to the car. He then left the scene.

Sergeant Newman said Bishoff caused $4873 in damages to the car, which police requested as restitution to the victim.

The court heard Bishoff spoke to police on June 9 where he admitted he caused the damage and had “lost his temper”.

The court heard he caused thousands of dollars in damages to the woman’s car.

The police prosecutor said Bishoff was lucky he was only charged with wilful damage after reading the facts, which the Maroochydore man pleaded guilty to.

Duty lawyer Breanna Bowtell said she was instructed the father-of-three was “disgusted” in his behaviour. She said he was also engaged with a mental health plan.

Ms Bowtell said the 39-year-old sustained a significant leg injury from a head on car collision three years ago which he suffers with today.

She said since then Bishoff had been working in a reduced capacity as a concreter.

Magistrate Rod Madsen plainly called the road rage episode “cowardly” which caused substantial damage to the woman’s vehicle.

“She must’ve been terrified,” Mr Madsen said.

Mr Madsen agreed with Sergeant Newman about how Bishoff was not charged with more offences due to his “quite dangerous driving”.

The court was told the 39-year-old also had an “appalling” traffic history which included speeding and drug driving offences.

Mr Madsen adjourned the matter to July 10 for sentence as the magistrate wanted Bishoff to show proof he was still working.

Bishoff left the court on bail.
