Coast father Warren Jeffrey Colledge has been jailed for the armed robbery of a man at Alexandra Headland

The man stole $730 at knifepoint of a pub goer but is unable to remember the offence. Here is the unusual reason for the memory loss.

A father-of-three who has been jailed for robbing a man at knifepoint had no memory of the offending, a court has heard.

Warren Jeffrey Colledge, 38, was on parole and subject to suspended sentences for offences in 2019 and 2020 at the time of the robbery.

Defence barrister John Jacob said Colledge had no "real memory" of the offending because he had fallen from his skateboard and was knocked out for several minutes prior to the robbery.

"He co-operated as much as he could (in the police interview)," Mr Jacob said.

Colledge, sporting a mullet and wearing thongs and board shorts, appeared in Maroochydore District Court on Tuesday where he pleaded guilty to armed robbery and failing to dispose of a needle and syringe.

The robbery happened at Alexandra Headland about 12.50am on October 11, 2020.

The court heard Colledge had "preyed" on the man as he left the Alexandra Headlands Hotel and shouted at him but the man kept walking.

The court heard Colledge had then caught up to the man at the Okinja Road traffic lights and asked the man: "What have you got on you?"

Crown prosecutor Joana Dias said Colledge then produced a knife with 15cm-long blade.

The victim, fearing for his safety, threw the money from his wallet on the ground and started running.

Colledge followed him a short distance on a skateboard but then turned around to pick up the money, which was $730.

The man called police to report the robbery and officers later found Colledge and the money in his wallet.

They also found a used, uncapped hypodermic syringe on Colledge.

Ms Dias said police did not find the knife on Colledge or in the area.

"He preyed on an innocent person (who was) alone at night, walking away from the hotel," she said.

Mr Jacob said Colledge accepted the facts of the armed robbery and was "shocked and appalled" by his behaviour.

He said the offending was "unsophisticated" and "opportunistic".

Colledge moved to the Sunshine Coast following the breakdown of his relationship in 2018, the court heard.

"(His) intention was to camp and 'clear his head' but he ended up being homeless," Mr Jacob said.

He said Colledge was unable to maintain employment after breaking his arm in 2019.

Judge Rafter said he had taken into account Colledge's personal circumstances at the time of the offending and his early guilty plea when sentencing him.

He said Colledge had a "fairly limited" criminal history was on parole and subject to suspended sentences and had been in custody since the offence and that 72 of those days were eligible to be declared as time served.

For the armed robbery, Judge Rafter sentenced Colledge to three years in prison to start at the end of his previous suspended sentences of six months and one month which he activated.

Colledge was convicted and not further punished for failing to dispose of the syringe.

He will be eligible for parole on September 20.
