Caloundra alleged stabbing: Shaun Michael White charged with attempted murder

A Caloundra man charged with attempted murder has had his first court appearance after he allegedly stabbed his neighbour several times with a hunting knife.

A 42-year-old Caloundra West man has faced court after allegedly stabbing his neighbour several times with a hunting knife, putting him in intensive care.

Shaun Michael White remains in custody after he was denied police bail and charged with attempted murder and enter premises and commit indictable offence.

Mr White’s matter was mentioned by solicitor Warren Tegg in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Saturday, but it was adjourned until May 4, 2022.

Police alleged he stabbed his neighbour in the backyard shed of the alleged victim’s Moreton Bay Dr, Caloundra West home on Wednesday before fleeing the scene.

The 42-year-old man turned himself into Pomona Police about 11am on Thursday after the Sunshine Coast District Criminal Investigation Branch began a manhunt.

A 42-year-old Caloundra West man has been charged with attempted murder.

Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Mansfield said on Thursday the neighbour was in intensive care with “significant and serious injuries”.

Police alleged he was stabbed in the neck, chest and back with an 8cm hunting knife.

Sergeant Mansfield said he was also suffering a punctured lung.

A man allegedly fled the scene in his boxer shorts leading the police to issue a public plea for help to find his whereabouts.

Sergeant Mansfield said the pair were known to each other and had a history of neighbourhood disputes.

“We believe there was some altercation or some words were said when our victim’s wife arrived home and she parked in the street,” he alleged.

“Our person of interest didn’t like where she parked apparently, he’s then approached the husband at the back of the property and he (allegedly) stabbed him.

“We expect [the alleged victim] to recover from his injuries, that’s the advice we’ve been given but it’s still a long road for him.”
