A Currimundi volunteer has been refused bail and revealed himself to be a night time masturbator, with police investigating similar reports along popular beaches.

Police say Kim Stewart Brown tried to gain entry to a home near Currimundi beach on the evening of June 13 before he walked around the property while masturbating.

The residents saw the 35-year-old committing the lewd acts and called police, however, he left the area before officers arrived.

Police claim Brown returned to the same home the following day on June 14 and was reported to police again.

Caloundra Police investigated and were able to track down the volunteer in bushland in the Currimundi area where he was arrested and refused police bail.

Brown appeared in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Monday where his lawyer Rod Morgan pushed his release on conditional liberty.

The court was told it was a strong police case with Brown caught on CCTV. He also made admissions to police.

Mr Morgan said Brown would plead guilty to the charges due to the overwhelming police case against the 35-year-old.

Brown pleaded guilty to three counts of indecent acts, and one count each of enter and commit indictable offence and attempted enter and commit while appearing by video from the Maroochydore watchhouse.

The defence lawyer said Brown, who had been transient for some years, volunteers at the Caloundra Community Centre regularly and took part in Murri Court programs including a yarning circle.

Mr Morgan said Brown could live at a Currimundi address with a friend while abiding by strict bail conditions.

Police prosecutor James Allen said the volunteer was already on bail for going into a woman’s home at night to take her car keys while she was showering.

Magistrate Rod Madsen said it was clear alcohol was a problem for Brown, and refused the 35-year-old’s bail.

Brown’s matter will be heard in court again on August 20.

In a statement by Queensland Police, investigations were ongoing into reports of similar lewd incidents between the Currimundi and Dicky Beach areas, specifically along the beach.

Anyone with information about suspicious activity in the area is urged to contact police.
