Sunshine Coast breaking news: Woman suffers head injury after Minyama crash

A woman cyclist continues her fight for life in a Sunshine Coast hospital after she was struck by a car during peak hour.

A woman cyclist is continuing to fight for life in a Sunshine Coast hospital after suffering life-threatening injuries when she was struck by a car on a busy road.

The crash happened in Minyama on June 18.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Nicklin Way and Jessica Boulevard and paramedics rushed the woman to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital, where she remains.

A Sunshine Coast University Hospital spokeswoman said on June 22 the woman is now in a serious but stable condition.

Police said on June 21 the woman was 27 years old and the investigation continues.

Anyone who witnessed the crash, or who has any dashcam vision that could assist investigations, is urged to contact police.

A witness, who said she was driving behind the car that hit the cyclist, said it was a horror scene.

“I didn’t see the bike … just the impact and aftermath,” she said.

“It wasn’t good but people came to support so fast.

“I’m happy to hear she was attended to by the ambos quickly.”

The crash also closed parts of the busy Sunshine Coast road during peak hour traffic.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said southbound lanes of Nicklin Way were closed while emergency crews were on scene.

A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said a woman in her 20s was treated for a “potentially life threatening” head injury and rushed to Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

Congestion was being reported as far back as Mooloolaba heading southbound with delays expected.

Tuesday – Woman rushed to hospital with facial injuries from fall

A woman in her 60s has been rushed to hospital following a scary fall at a Sunshine Coast facility which left her with face injuries.

A female patient in her 60s with facial injuries was transported stable to Sunshine Coast University Hospital after a fall at the Coolum Eco Park at 7.15pm, at Coolum, on Monday night.

A road has been closed and a person taken to hospital following a truck rollover in the Noosa hinterland.

Emergency services rushed to the single-vehicle crash about 12.45pm on Monday where no one suffered serious injuries.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Service spokesman said the driver was out of the vehicle when their crews arrived, with fireys attending to a fuel leak from the vehicle.

The spokesman said a heavy vehicle recovery tow truck was called to assist.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said one patient was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition with neck plain.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said Doonan Rd near Regency Rd was closed with diversions in place.

Motorists were asked to avoid the area if possible.
