A Sunshine Coast man who allegedly ran over a woman’s legs in a violent road rage incident has appeared in court for the first time.
Blair Jonathan Avery appeared in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on March 7 charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing grievous bodily harm.
Defence lawyer Chelsea Emery told the court a brief of evidence has been sought and asked for the matter to be adjourned.
No plea has been entered.
He was charged by police in February, about a month after a video circled on social media of an incident by a roundabout in Coolum on December 22 allegedly involving Mr Avery and Tia-Loketi Harvey.
Video footage appears to show a car - alleged to be driven by Mr Avery - crushing Ms Harvey’s legs as he drove around her car.
Ms Harvey was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital by ambulance and received surgery the following day for her injuries.
She currently requires a wheelchair until she can learn to walk again, Ms Harvey previously told this publication.
Magistrate Chris Callaghan adjourned the matter to April 2, 2024.
