A married Noosa painter who incessantly stalked a schoolgirl at a supermarket had to make a run for it after her angry father chased him off in a car park.

Artur Domi, 34, escaped a conviction after he stalked a 16-year-old supermarket worker over the course of six months up until August, 2021.

Police prosecutor Nick Nitschke told the court Domi had harassed her up to 20 times while she worked at a supermarket in Noosa.

Noosa Magistrates Court heard the teenager had been “creeped out” after the tradie continued to go to her checkout, touched her hand while collecting shopping bags and demanded she served him.

During their conversations the victim told Domi she was a school student and what hours she worked when asked by the 34-year-old.

Domi’s offending came to a head on August 10 about 10pm according to Sergeant Nitschke when the 34-year-old followed the schoolgirl out to the supermarket car park after her shift.

The court was told the young girl refused to give Domi her phone number several times and ran to her dad’s car.

Sergeant Nitschke said the schoolgirl’s dad ran after Domi after being told about the 34-year-old’s disturbing infatuation with his daughter.

Domi was able to escape however footage of his behaviour was released to the media by Noosa Police with the painter eventually being identified.

Defence lawyer Jane Bruxten said the Albanian-born Domi moved to Australia in 2019 and said a conviction would put his visa renewal in jeopardy.

“Is Mr Dutton looking for his phone number?,” asked Magistrate Haydn Stjernqvist.

Mr Stjernqvist told Domi it was quite a late guilty plea as well.

“You had the opportunity several times to desist harassing and stalking this young girl, especially at that time when she told you she was a schoolgirl,” he said.

Domi pleaded guilty to unlawful stalking and was fined $1500 with no conviction recorded.
