The bond between an owner and his dog led to a 42-year-old Pomona man being taken away in handcuffs when he threatened to kill his next door neighbour.

A Pomona man who lost his dog after it was poisoned and run over by a car was so distressed by the tragedy he threw items at his neighbour’s fence and threatened to kill them, a court has heard.
Sharn John O’Sullivan’s drunken meltdown caused neighbours to spill out onto the streets and call police several times.
The 42-year-old was fined $600 with no conviction recorded for the offence in Noosa Magistrates Court on February 1.
The court heard O’Sullivan had been drinking heavily on December 23, 2021 after his dog had been severely injured and he caused a public nuisance in Pomona.
Police were called to the man’s home about 8pm after neighbours complained of hearing verbal abuse and loud music, the Noosa Magistrates Court heard.
According to police prosecutor Nick Nitschke, O’Sullivan met with the officers and was extremely drunk.
Sergeant Nitschke said O’Sullivan was angry with his neighbour after his dog was run over.
The court heard that police gave O’Sullivan a warning about the loud noise and left.
Shortly afterwards about 9.30pm police received more calls about more noise at O’Sullivan’s house where he was heard yelling “I’m going to kill you”.
The court was told when police arrived O’Sullivan could be heard throwing several items at his neighbour’s fence.
Sergeant Nitschke said residents began to pour out onto the road due to the raucous noise.
Police spoke to O’Sullivan again however he became aggressive and resisted arrest.
Noosa Magistrates Court heard O’Sullivan returned a blood-alcohol content reading of 0.210 per cent back at the station.
Duty lawyer Bernard Bradley said the Pomona man had been distressed and heartbroken since his “fur child” or pet dog had been poisoned and run over by a car.
O’Sullivan pleaded guilty to public nuisance and obstructing police.
