A Sunshine Coast couple who claim they “bought” things they are accused of trying to sell online have had their bail questioned after a magistrate was concerned the pair could reoffend.

Amanda Kourtney Joy McDougall, 33, and Aaron Alexander Lehmann, 32, faced Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Wednesday, September 15 each charged with a string of offences.

Police allege the pair had stolen multiple items over the years and in some cases tried to sell the stolen goods online, including two alleged break and enters as recent as September 1 and 5.

The court heard the Nambour woman is charged with 19 offences, including eight counts of entering a dwelling and committing an indictable offence and one count of attempted fraud.

Police prosecutor Stu Lydford said police allege the stolen goods seized were estimated to be about $30,000 in value, “but it could go up”.

Duty lawyer Liesl Rogan said Ms McDougall would be disputing some of the charges because she believed some of the items found by police were bought by the pair and weren’t stolen.

Ms Rogan said her client, who was applying for bail on Wednesday, had originally been granted watch-house bail on Monday but police had revoked it after more charges were laid.

Ms Rogan said Ms McDougall had up until her latest arrest been able to follow the bail conditions, which included a curfew, and had support from her mother.

Magistrate Rodney Madsen said the allegations were “inexplicable” and he was worried Ms McDougall would continue to offend if she was released on bail.

However, he ordered a mental health assessment be completed after Ms Rogan said her client was being treated for depression.

Ms McDougall’s bail application was adjourned to Thursday.

Mr Lehmann, who is charged with two counts of fraud, two counts of entering a dwelling and committing an indictable offence, two counts of receiving tainted property and one count of possessing utensils, was denied bail on Wednesday.

The court heard that unlike Ms McDougall, who had no previous criminal history, Mr Lehmann of Mooloolah Valley did.

Mr Madsen adjourned his matter to November 25, where Mr Lehmann will enter a lengthy plea.
