A drunk mother, angry about not being invited to her step-daughter’s baby shower, was nearly five times over the limit when she hit a parked car and bins while trying to reverse park.

Alison Mary O‘Brien (Harrison), 56, was fined $1500 and was disqualified for 15 months in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Monday after she pleaded guilty for driving under the influence.

Police prosecutor Lee Allan said O‘Brien had hit a set of bins while trying to reverse park in Mudjimba Beach before she drove into the driver’s door of a parked car on September 19.

Senior Constable Allan said O‘Brien was unsteady on her feet and had glassy eyes before she blew a blood alcohol reading of 0.246.

O‘Brien became aggressive and showed a lack of restraint when she hit her partner for not arriving on the scene before police.

Solicitor Jacob Pruden told the court O‘Brien became upset after a long-standing family dispute saw her not being invited to her step-daughter’s baby shower on September 18.

Mr Pruden said the fact that she wasn't invited to the family event was rubbed in the woman’s face.

He said O‘Brien had been drinking and had no intention to drive before she “foolishly” got behind the wheel after an argument with her husband.

The court heard the Twin Waters resident, who spent time in the Coolum Beach watch-house, had no criminal or traffic history and was very remorseful for her actions.

She explained the experience as a “horrible ordeal”.

Magistrate Rod Madsen said it was a “substantial reading”.

O‘Brien was one of many drink drivers being sentenced in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Monday for putting road users at risk.

International student Harsh Chetankuma Prajapati was drunk when he collided with a car, parked on the opposite side of a Mooloolaba road at 8:50pm on September 20.

Senior Constable Allan said Prajapati, 22, blew a blood alcohol reading of 0.210 shortly after he lost control of his Kia sedan and hit a car on Akeringa Place, Mooloolaba.

Unrepresented, Prajapati’s roommate translated for the international student who worked part time.

He said Prajapati was stressed after work and had a couple beers before he made the “bad mistake” of driving home.

Mr Madsen said the very high reading combined with the crash didn't vote well for Prajapati.

A Maroochydore mother who had been drinking at a friend's house before she drove home caused around $4000 worth of damage when she hit a street sign.

Smith was fined $1000 and disqualified for seven months after she pleaded guilty to driving under the influence.

Senior Constable Allan said Smith was driving her white Toyota on Tepequar Drive about 11pm when she hit a small street sign.

He said the Toyota was attached to the sign on the nature strip.

The court heard Smith admitted to having five glasses of wine before driving.

Solicitor Lisa Taylor said the mother of two was ashamed and disappointed in herself for not setting a better example for her children.

“She is ashamed and regretful of placing other users at risk,” she said.

“There is no excuse for my actions I fully accept responsibility for what I’ve done.”

The business administration worker, who suffers from depression and anxiety, had no history.

Ms Taylor said a conviction would impact Smith’s employment and asked for no conviction to be recorded.

Smith’s car was damaged in the accident and cost the mother up to $4000 to be fixed.

Mr Madsen fined Smith $1000 and disqualified her from driving for seven months.

No conviction was recorded.

He said Anderson, 31, claimed he had drunk three mid strength beers at the Parklands Tavern before he blew a blood alcohol reading of 0.159.

Solicitor Luke Bull said Anderson, a full time worker, was very remorseful and embarrassed to be in court.

Mr Bull said the man only had one previous drink driving charge from 2014.

Mr Madsen said hopefully it would be Anderson’s last time in court.
