A “pest” teenager who allegedly urinated on a car and reduced a schoolteacher to tears drove a Mountain Creek man to “snap” and show up at his house with a baseball bat.

Adam Keith Willis, 46, pleaded guilty in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Monday, November 6, to two charges of obstruct police, one of going armed so as to cause fear and one of breaching bail.

The court was told Willis stood on the road outside a Mountain Creek home with a baseball bat about 8.45pm on October 13 and tried to provoke the people inside to come out.

Police prosecutor Nick Nitschke said Willis was filmed saying things like “come on tough guys” and “come out and we’ll have a chat” while tapping the bat on a car.

“An occupant of the dwelling replied ‘you’re going to bash a (teenager)?’,” Sergeant Nitschke told the court.

After a stand-off, the police were called but Willis retreated to his own home and locked himself inside, the court was told, though police eventually entered and arrested him.

Willis was taken to the watch house, but police noticed he had slipped his hands out of the handcuffs and was holding them like knuckledusters.

Police tried to reason with him but he responded with “you guys should work at Hungry Jack’s”, Sergeant Nitschke said.

Sergeant Nitschke said Willis was eventually “sprayed” and dragged from the police car into a watch house cell.

The prosecutor told the court Willis had appeared intoxicated.

Willis was given police bail on the condition he not go near the Mountain Creek house, but on October 15 broke bail after he was filmed driving down its street.

Sergeant Nitschke said Willis thought he was only not allowed at the house.

Lawyer Rachel Holland said her client, an electrician, was a “decent family man” with two children.

She called a teenager living at the Mountain Creek home “a pest” and said Willis had shown up there in retaliation.

“Him and his mates come past and harass my client, pee on his car and ... they also rode their mopeds on his front lawn after he’s just laid his lawn and they chewed it up,” she said.

Ms Holland said Willis’ wife was a teacher at the school the teenage boy attends and said he had made her life “hell”.

She said her client “snapped” after his wife came home in tears from work, but he accepted he had “overreacted”.

Magistrate Rod Madsen said it was clear Willis’ actions were out of character.

Willis was given a $1200 good behaviour bond for 12 months.

A conviction was not recorded.
