Things to do for Melbourne Cup Day on the Sunshine Coast

Fancy a flutter for the race that stops the nation, or a party but can’t decide where? See what events and functions are on at Sunshine Coast pubs, clubs and hotels this year.

If you haven’t decided how to celebrate Melbourne Cup Day yet, check out the guide of venues hosting events for the occasion across the Sunshine Coast on Tuesday, November 7.

Sunshine Coast Turf Club

There are several areas where you can choose to spend the race day at the Sunshine Coast Turf Club, starting with fine dining and other membership benefits with an Atrium Dining reservation.

The Pavilion is still open for members with tables of up to 10 seats.

The TAB Greenhouse, the Glasshouse, the Establishment and Parade Ring Terrace areas are sold out.

General admission is still available with seating, bars, food trucks and live music at the venue.

Four Pines Noosa

Four Pines Noosa will be holding a function at their venue to celebrate and watch the Melbourne Cup.

The event will include live entertainment, fashion prizes, sweeps and a complimentary beverage.

There will also be a two-course lunch available from 1pm.

Savvy Squire, Mooloolaba

There are plenty of options for the Melbourne Cup Day Luncheon at Savvy Squire with several packages available.

Tickets for seating with a three-course meal are on offer for $79, with the standing option with grazing boards available for $49.

Raffles, fashion, sweeps, premium drinks packages and a drink on arrival will all be part of the fun.

Parklands Tavern

A cocktail on arrival, sweeps and raffles have been planned for Parklands Tavern’s two-course lunch.

Make sure to dress your fanciest to win best dressed.

Entry: $65

Time: 11.30am

Coolum Beach Hotel

A bistro two-course meal with dessert and complimentary beverage on arrival package is on offer at the Coolum Beach Hotel for $65 per person.

The event starts from 11am.

For something extra, their VIP terrace will be open for three hours of food including canapes and finger food as well as premium drinks.

Tickets cost $130 per person and the event starts from 12pm.

Brightwater Hotel

The races will be live and loud on the screen with tickets on sale for a two-course lunch and cocktail on arrival.

Prizes for best dressed, raffles and sweepstakes will be on.

Kawana Waters Hotel

Kawana Waters Hotel is holding a three-course alternate drop menu lunch for the race day, alongside sweeps and fashion prizes.

Entry: $60

Time: 11am

Baringa Tavern

Tickets for a two-course lunch with cocktail are on sale for $60 and best dressed prizes, raffles and sweepstakes will all be part of the fun.

Buderim Tavern

Buderim Tavern will have two events to pick from on Melbourne Cup Day.

For $85 you can enjoy two hours of drinks and canapes at their “birdcage” private event or join the restaurant for $59 with a two-course alternate drop menu with a drink.

Live entertainment, fashion prizes and sweeps will be on.

Noosa Reef Hotel

The Noosa Reef Hotel will be playing race day coverage on the big screen with a two-course meal and drink on offer.

Along with their featured martini and annual race day auction, there will be fashion prizes, sweeps and a lucky door prize will be on offer.

Maroochy RSL

The sports bar will be open from 8am on Melbourne Cup Day at the Maroochy RSL.

Maroochy Surf Club

Live music, prizes and sweeps will be on for the races at the Maroochy Surf Club Black Swan Function Room.

Canapes, a main meal and dessert will be available for lunch as well as sparkling wine.

Dicky Beach Surf Club

The surf club will be hosting a luncheon serving a three-course meal and drink as well as a raffle, lucky door and mystery seat prize, sweepstakes and live music.

Banana Bender Pub

A bottomless luncheon will be on at the Banana Bender Pub with drinks as race day coverage plays on the big screen.

Prizes and giveaways are up for grabs for best dressed.

Woombye Pub

The Woombye Pub is offering a two or three-course lunch, with sweeps and surprises in store.

Time: 11am

Golden Beach Tavern

A two-course meal will be available for the Melbourne Cup Day event at the Golden Beach Tavern with a drink package for sale at $30.

The event will include fashion prizes, raffles, sweeps and a “pool noodle horse pony comp.”

Duporth Tavern

The Duporth Tavern is hosting a “pre-garden party” with canapes and a glass of champagne on arrival.

Prizes and Fashion on the Fields will be on as the race day plays on the tavern screens.
