Sunshine Coast-based distillery Paradise Rum is opening its second venue – a new bar and bistro in Mooloolaba.

Paradise Rum owners Chris and Cathryn Clyne opened their first venue – the Paradise Rum Distillery – in November, 2022 and have had “significant growth and success” since then.

Mr Clyne had transformed the former site of Good Bar Mooloolaba on First Ave into the Paradise Bar and Bistro within 90 days.

Venue manager Simon Jones said they were excited to provide a “unique destination for rum lovers” showcasing the “tropical and idyllic” scenery of Mooloolaba alongside the brand’s rum, gin and vodka.

The new venue is a Caribbean-style space with a vibrant, beach-themed interior and the kitchen is serving a modern Australian menu with a “tropical twist.”

“The decision to expand our presence was driven by our belief in the potential of the market and the desire to offer an exceptional rum-focused experience,” Mr Jones said.

“Mooloolaba itself carries a connotation of paradise, which resonates perfectly with our brand name, Paradise Rum.

“We wanted to leverage the association with paradise and create a seamless connection between the location and the experience we offer.”

One of their favourite pieces in the new space is a palm tree mural created by local artist and Mr Simon’s partner Agi Ragankiewicz and the venue boasts an area for outdoor dining with “inviting ambience” alongside cozy lounge areas.

“These special features, such as the stunning mural, expansive outdoor area, and versatile seating options, are designed to enhance the overall experience,” Mr Jones said.

Their current distillery and restaurant in Warana would now focus more on additionally catering for functions and events such as cocktail parties, wedding receptions and corporate events.

The venue will celebrate their Mooloolaba launch on Wednesday, June 21.
