OVERNIGHT falls of about 10mm have dampened the Sunshine Coast today, with the weather bureau expecting those “persistent” showers to hang around.
The Bureau of Meteorology said the region averaged 5-10mm throughout with two gauges near Maroochydore recording more than 10mm.
Forecaster Rosa Hoff said the showers were predicted to ease off but still linger around the Coast until later in the week.

“There are still some showers forecast which is not unusual for the Coast. They will steadily move north up the coast,” Ms Hoff said.
“It wasn’t a drenching, fairly light totals but persistent. North Stradbroke Island did have 18mm.”

Ms Hoff said temperatures will hover around 21C maximums before warming up later in the week.
“It should stick around 21C, with a bit more sunshine and warmth by Thursday,” she said.
“Minimums should still be wintry. Expect a few places like Nambour and Maleny to be single-digit minimums.
“Closer to the coast will be around 10-11C minimums, picking up to 12-13C by the end of the week.”
