Multiple fire, ambulance and SES crews hiked into the Glass House Mountains after two women were injured in separate incidents along a popular trail on Sunday morning.
The Queensland Ambulance Service was first called just after 8am when a woman in her 30s suffered an ankle injury while trail running on the Yul-Yan-Man track near Beerburrum.
A QAS spokeswoman said paramedics had to hike in to reach her, as she was unable to walk out on her own.
Due to the rugged terrain, a rescue helicopter was later deployed to winch her to safety.
While attending to the injured runner, emergency crews were alerted to a second incident involving a woman in her 70s who had suffered a hip injury at the opposite end of the same trail.
She was transported to hospital in a stable condition by ambulance. It is understood the two women were not together.
A Queensland Fire Department spokesman confirmed multiple crews were involved in the rescue effort.
The Yul-Yan-Man trail, a 6.1km point-to-point track, is popular with hikers and trail runners.
