Bruce Hwy crash victim Nathan Weckert leaves mark on all

He may have had only 17 years. But Sunshine Coast teen Nathan Weckert who suddenly died in a Bruce Highway crash has left his mark on all.

Raising a child is arguably one of the toughest challenges any of us have or will ever face.

It is a rewarding and yet thankless task.

It teaches us lessons we never knew we needed to know.

It drives us to pure exhaustion and stretches our limits.

It can make us cry, even angry and frustrated, and within a split second fill us with pure happiness and pride.

It shows us the real meaning of love, but it also shows us what fear feels like.

Because no matter how difficult the task at hand is, there is not a moment we are not afraid of losing it all.

So we push through every day. Try our best.

And hope that one day our children are good human beings who turn their dreams into reality; reach their full potential; make a difference and leave their mark on this world.

On Monday night all those dreams and hopes for the parents of a 17-year-old boy were shattered in a heartbeat.

Nathan Weckert was killed in a Bruce Highway crash.

Thousands of dollars have already been raised to support the family and the internet has been flooded with tributes.

It is clear that Nathan did not need a whole lifetime to leave his mark. He did it all in 17 sweet years.

His loss has not just affected his family and friends and the wider community but the Sunshine Coast Daily too and our sincerest condolences go to the loved ones he left behind.
