Nambour crash leaves young boy fighting for life

Loved ones are praying for the best as a two-year-old boy remains in hospital after a horror car crash on the Sunshine Coast last week.

A beautiful two-year-old boy remains in hospital after suffering head injuries from a horror car crash on the Sunshine Coast, while police wait to find out if there was anything in the driver’s system.

The two-year-old boy remains in a stable condition in a Brisbane hospital after a crash in Nambour, on Wednesday, November 29.

Loved ones and family friends have shared words of support on social media.

It is understood the boy’s name is Luca.

“We are all praying for you little Luca, fight hard baby boy,” one family friend said.

“Sending mountains of love, hugs and support to you and your family … during this very difficult and heartbreaking time.”

Another family friend said they were also “praying for Luca”.

“We love you Luca,” another added.

“This story is very sad and poor Luca doesn’t deserve this,” someone else said.

Police confirmed to continue investigating the cause of the crash they would need the blood test results from the driver.

She wasn’t breathalysed at the scene, but instead taken to hospital for her injuries where a blood sample was also taken – to test what was in her system at the time.

It is understood it can take up to six weeks for these results to be returned to police.

The two-year-old was flown to the Queensland Children’s Hospital in a critical condition with head injuries by the Sunshine Coast RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Helicopter.

As of Tuesday his condition had improved to stable, according to a Queensland Health spokesperson.

A 26-year-old Woombye woman was assisting police with their inquiries. She suffered minor injuries and was taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

No one has been charged or taken into custody yet regarding the crash.
