Multimillion-dollar Nambour Gold Lotto winners revealed after more than week

The hunt for the Sunshine Coast’s newest millionaires is over after an “overwhelmed” Nambour mother and son emerged as the mystery division one Gold Lotto winners.

A Nambour mother and son have emerged to claim their share of a major division one Gold Lotto prize pool more than a week after the draw.

The elusive pair, who purchased their ticket at Nambour Village News, held one of the 10 division one winning entries nationally in the Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4177 on July 31.

Each entry took home a division one prize of $2 million.

After more than a week, and plenty of nervous ticket checking by customers of the newsagency, the pair discovered their life-changing windfall.

The prize was confirmed by The Lott on Monday morning, with the winning woman explaining she’d spent the past week completely oblivious to the windfall.

“I went into the newsagency on Saturday and checked the ticket,” she said.

“It was such a shock when they told me they couldn’t pay out the prize.

She said she was sharing the win with her son.

“We always buy tickets together,” she said.

She said the money would be life-changing.

“I don’t know exactly how we will use the prize at the moment,” the mum said.

“I’ll be able to do some renovations around the house and my son will be able to really set himself up.”

Nambour Village News manager Danielle Parkinson last week said she had been dreaming of selling a division one prize for five years.

She said it had been her fifth anniversary of running the shop the day after the winning draw.

She was thrilled the mystery winner had finally come forward.

“We are so happy to see this prize go to loyal and local customers,” she said.

“It feels absolutely amazing to sell a division one prize, and we are so happy for our winners.”

While it’s the first time the store has sold a division one winning ticket, they’re certainly no strangers to success.

Ms Parkinson said they sold a $200,000 first prize in Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot two years ago.

They also sold the top prize in the $10 Live the Life Instant Scratch-It back in 2015, which was $650,000.
