Mt Beerwah rescue: Firefighters called to Glass House Mountains

A young hiker was taken to hospital after he was rescued while attempting to scale a Sunshine Coast mountain.

A young hiker was taken to hospital after he was rescued while attempting to scale a Sunshine Coast mountain.

Multiple emergency services crews were called out to a rescue at Mount Beerwah, just after 1pm on Saturday.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said there was one person on the mountain that needed assistance.

“Our mountain rescue technicians have ascended the mountain and reached the casualty just after 3pm,” the spokeswoman said.

“As of 4.30pm, they were starting to lower that person down the mountain.”

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said that a man in his 20s was being rescued in a stable condition.

“A male in his 20s has sustained a shoulder injury while climbing the mountain,” the spokeswoman said.

The hiker was taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
