Maroochydore State High School confirms details of overnight incident
A Sunshine Coast high school has reassured parents safety is the highest priority after a classroom was damaged and blood and broken glass was found on Tuesday morning.

Police are investigating after a Sunshine Coast state high school was damaged and students arrived to find broken glass and blood before class on Tuesday.
Maroochydore State High School officials reported the incident to police after it appeared people were on school grounds on Monday evening.
Initial reports from students and concerned parents ranged from a possible stabbing to a wild party and there were reports of damage to the school’s science block.
A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman confirmed an incident was reported to have happened sometime between 8pm Monday and 5am Tuesday.
She said an unknown number of people “smashed stubbies” on the basketball court.
It is understood someone cut themselves on the glass and some blood was found on Tuesday morning.
It was also reported there was damage to the wall of a classroom.
The spokeswoman said officers attended the school and investigations were continuing.
Principal David Samaha wrote to parents on Tuesday to clear up misinformation and reassure them safety was the school’s top priority.
“While this was a minor incident, I thought it best to communicate with you in order to avoid inaccurate community or social media discussion,” the statement read.
“This morning some broken glass was found on the school basketball courts and it appears someone may have cut themselves on the glass at the time.
“The area was made safe before school began this morning.
“Rest assured that we treat the safety and welfare of your children, our students, as our highest priority at all times.
“Thank you for your continuing support of our school.”
