Rockliff Seafoods spokeswoman Vanessa Rockliff said the trawler was moored at Rockliff’s wharf, but was not one of their vessels.
“We are fortunate to have a close-knit fishing community on the Sunshine Coast, and all our love and well wishes go to the man involved and his family,” she said.
“It highlights the dangers our fishermen face every day, both in shore and out to sea.
“The Australian fishing industry has some of the most stringent safety regulations in the world, but there will always be risks relating to life on the unpredictable sea.“
A Workplace Health and Safety Queensland spokeswoman said an investigation into the incident remained ongoing.
