MEAT lovers rejoice! The region's most mouth-watering beef sausage has been crowned and is ready to roll onto your dinner plate.
Bli Bli Butchery wowed the judges at this year's Best Burger and Sausage King Competition at Dicky Beach Surf Club.
The butchers were ecstatic to have snagged the Regional Sausage King title for their traditional Australian beef sausage.
They also brought home the bacon with a bronze medal for their traditional pork sausage and a silver for their unique tomato onion and halloumi gourmet burgers.
Owner Tammy Gleeson was beaming to have their iconic staple recognised on a regional stage.
"It's very exciting. We've entered a few times, but to get this one is really big," she said.
"What's special for us is that we recently changed our traditional beef sausage recipe, so for us entering it was a bit scary, but we're glad others loved it as much as we do," she said.
Yet customers of the butchery always received more 'banger' for their buck than just delicious meat, Mrs Gleeson said.
"We sell good quality products, but we partner it with great customer service which is what we pride ourselves on.
"We have a lot of little things that come together, like just greeting people at the door, which makes the shopping experience with us special," she said.
Bli Bli Butchery will now bust out the sharpest cleavers and take their best beef to the state finals at the Ekka on August 18.
Mrs Gleeson said it was a great opportunity to put their store on the map.
"We are only a little shop compared to others, so it's wonderful to get that recognition and to get people into Bli Bli," she said.
If successful, the butchery will progress to the national competition in February.
The Sunshine Coast and Wide Bay Australian Meat Industry Council's awards were held last Sunday.
