Fire crews returned to the scene of a destroyed Sunshine Coast home this morning after it was completely engulfed in flames.

Eight crews, made up of rural and Queensland Fire and Rescue teams, were called to the home on Kiel Mountain Rd at Kiels Mountain about 6.30pm Thursday, August 8.

A Queensland Fire Department spokeswoman said on Friday the single-storey house was extensively damaged.

Fire crews had the fire under control by 8.45pm on Thursday and two crews had returned in the morning to snuff out hot spots that had flared up, the spokeswoman said.

The fire was completely extinguished by 9.15am on Friday.

A fire investigator attended the scene but was unable to determine a cause due to the high level of damage, the spokeswoman said.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said no one had required treatment at the scene.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said the blaze was not being treated as suspicious at this stage.
