A woman convicted of killing two young bus mechanics as they worked on a Sunshine Coast roadside is facing a second charge related to the tragic crash.

Warana woman Kelly Renee Liddicoat, 44, has been charged with one count of driving under the influence of liquor or a drug and the matter was mentioned in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Thursday, November 2.

The charge relates to an incident in Woombye where she hit and subsequently killed Baringa man Lleyton Bartlett, 22, and Currimundi man Aaron Pitt, 25, who were repairing a broken down bus on Nambour Connection Rd at Woombye on April 21, 2022.

Liddicoat was recently found guilty of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance in a seven-day trial in Maroochydore District Court.

She had pleaded not guilty to the charge of dangerous operation.

Her sentencing was adjourned to December 11, 2023.

District Court proceedings previously heard Liddicoat had a number of prescription drugs including valium, Seroquel and lyrica in her system when she was driving in a BMW along Nambour Connection Road.

She was first charged in May, 2022 and her charge of driving under the influence has been in front of the Maroochydore Magistrates Court since June, 2022.

No plea has been entered to the charge.

Liddicoat’s lawyer Brad Hill dialled into the courtroom during the latest mention and told the court Liddicoat was sentenced in Magistrates Court a day prior for a breach of bail.

Liddicoat had appeared from custody on videolink on November 1 and pleaded guilty to the charge of breaching bail.

The court was told she did not report to police at the Kawana Station on August 16.

She was convicted but not further punished and a conviction was recorded.

Magistrate Rod Madsen questioned why the charge of driving under the influence was not mentioned during the matter regarding the breach.

He suggested he move the charge to meet with her District Court sentence on December 11, 2023.

Mr Hill and police prosecutor Nick Nitschke did not object.

Mr Madsen moved the matter to be mentioned in Maroochydore District Court in order to join with Liddicoat’s sentence.

No application for bail was made and Liddicoat was remanded in custody.
