The first drinks are finally being poured at the highly-anticipated $32m Bli Bli Hotel, a watering hole six years in the making.
The Bli Bli Hotel, located on the corner of David Low Way and Bli Bli Rd, opened at 10am Monday, October 30.
Launched by Maeva Hospitality, formerly known as Sunshine Coast Hotels, planning for the venue started in 2017, with construction taking place over two years.
The venue spans across three levels, with key features including a modern 300-seat bistro, children’s play area, function room, sports bar, dedicated gaming lounge, and drive-through/walk-in bottle shop.
Adjoining the bistro is an open-air terrace featuring a retractable roof, big sliding windows, with the space highlighted by a 4m pink blossom tree.
The venue is a collaboration between developers Roz and Michael White, Maeva Hospitality Director Scott Armstrong and the Deery family, the latter the owners of the iconic Story Bridge Hotel and the Woodford Hotel.
Mr Armstrong said the opening of the venue has been a long time coming.
“This venue is a testament to the collective support of the Sunshine Coast community and we are thrilled it has finally arrived,” Mr Armstrong said.
“The sports bar is designed to be the ultimate destination for sports enthusiasts to cheer for their favourite teams.
“The rooftop terrace offers a relaxing atmosphere where locals and visitors can enjoy shared plates and signature cocktails.”
The venue also features separate levels for carparking and office space, with customers able to access the venue via a lift within the 315 car space parking complex.
Featuring a menu designed by group executive chef Damien Grimes, the meals highlight the diversity of Australian flavours using ingredients sourced from local suppliers.
Some dishes are cooked over fire including the wood roasted local prawns and wood roasted chicken shish, while there are also pub classics such as steaks, pizzas and schnitzels.
Designed by Diana Challinor, the Bli Bli Hotel features bespoke decor and furnishings, highlighted by glazed tiles, hand-blown glass chandeliers, and hand-printed Australian bush wallpaper.
