A woman who allegedly returned a sky-high blood alcohol reading after a two vehicle crash in Nambour has been taken from the Nambour Magistrates Court in an ambulance after she fell face-first into the duty solicitor’s office.

Jennifer Leigh Derksen, from Burnside, entered the courtroom in Nambour Magistrates Court on Monday, February 6 while another person’s matters were being heard.

Ms Derksen stood up and cried out multiple times that she was scared, before being escorted out of the courtroom.

Sunshine Coast police charged 50-year-old Ms Derksen after a two-vehicle crash at 4.20pm on Friday, December 30, with police attending the scene at the intersection of Lamington Tce and Magnolia St, Nambour.

Police will allege Ms Derksen returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.419 per cent.

When it came time for her matter to be heard, duty solicitor Neale Tobin told Magistrate Matthew McLaughlin that Ms Derksen had just collapsed face-first in his office.

“She actually was coming into the room to see me and collapsed face-first,” he said.

“She’s still here inside of my room, it’s only just happened.”

Mr McLaughlin asked Mr Tobin if “that the lady who was distressed this morning?”, which Mr Tobin confirmed.

“Obviously she was very distressed about it,” Mr McLaughlin said.

Mr Tobin confirmed that an ambulance had been called, which arrived and escorted Ms Derkson from the rear of the courthouse.

Ms Derksen had been listed to face one charge of did drive U.I.L.

Mr McLaughlin decided against issuing a warrant and instead the matter was adjourned until February 20 at Nambour Magistrates Court.
