A Sunshine Coast business owner has expressed his gratitude after his loyal community voted his gym best in the region for the second time in a row.

Jacob Watson’s Little Mountain gym Wattfit was voted the best gym on the Sunshine Coast in a poll cast by this publication, garnering 272 or 45 per cent of votes.

Fit Kat Bootcamp came in second with 178 votes.

Mr Watson’s gym was crowned best in the region during the previous poll in 2023, followed by the title of best personal trainer.

He said his second win felt “really great and really special,” particularly after having gone up against many other gyms.

Wattfit’s “awesome community,” which has been built on since his last win, had rallied the gym home, he said.

Mr Watson noted his gym had received even more support this time round, with new faces involved.

“They definitely turned up and were consistent with their voting,” he said.

His members love the gym and hoped for it to gain recognition as much as Mr Watson himself did, he said.

Mr Watson thanked his past and current members as well as friends and family for voting and being supportive of the direction and mission of his business.

He said the win meant a lot to his members and to himself, with hopes the recognition would bring more like-minded people into his community.

As a “community-sided gym”, Mr Watson focuses on making impact on an individual level.

It seems to work, as some of his clients have been training with him for more than five years, before his current gym was established.

Mr Watson said his members were ready to roll their sleeves up for a third win in the future.

The gym put their “best foot forward” in voting, with Mr Watson noting they had a nervous start to the voting phase while being neck-to-neck with other gyms.

Mr Watson’s gym has a large over-50s community, but caters to all ages with a focus on group, semi-private and personal training.

Since its last win in 2023, WattFit has also introduced an in-house nutritionist and naturopath in order to create more services for members.

The gym celebrated its second birthday in 2024.
