Proposals for medium and high density housing continue to be put forward to Sunshine Coast Council, with many winning the stamp of approval to break ground on the projects.

From a 53-apartment tower in a major Maroochydore precinct to luxurious penthouses and sets of townhouses, these are the proposals and approved projects recently sent to and approved by council.

Pitched proposals

3 Quinn Court, Mount Coolum

Adams and Sparkes Town Planning lodged an application with the Sunshine Coast Council on behalf of Developments by J and J to build a set of five townhouses on a Mount Coolum residential street.

The plans show each townhouse would offer two bedrooms over two storeys, no higher than 7.2m.

Documents show the site is a vacant, cleared lot in a medium-density residential zone surrounded primarily by other townhouses, units and houses.

The area is about 200m away from a local centre zone and is in proximity to public transport options.

26 Netherton St, Nambour

URBN Town Planning lodged an application with council on behalf of Eric Bates to build three additional units on the property.

The 1530sq m lot is currently occupied by a single-storey three-bedroom house at the front and it is proposed to place the three additional homes behind the home.

Documents state the existing home will ensure the new units cannot be seen from the street.

Plans show each unit would have two bedrooms, a combined kitchen, dining and living area measuring 60sq m and a 21.9sq m deck.

The project is intended to provide affordable housing to smaller households, documents state.

A driveway would be built past the existing home alongside all the units.

Council approved plans for a set of six units in Maroochydore on June 26 after Murray and Associates lodged an application on behalf of Duporth Developments Pty Ltd in January.

The development features four apartment storeys with undercover parking on the ground floor for residents.

Documents show two three-bedroom units would occupy each floor, ranging between 146sq m and 156sq m in size.

The 615sq m block is located within a high-density residential zone.

A boutique set of million-dollar apartments proposed for a hilltop spot at Kings Beach was approved by council on July 8.

Karam Boutique Residential plan to build the three-storey building on the corner of Canberra Tce and Arthur St near the Caloundra Lighthouses.

Karam Boutique Residential chairman Neade Karam previously said their proposal was taking living spaces to the “next level.”

Each apartment would reflect “real luxury” featuring an ensuite, walk-in wardrobe and spa.

The development will have 18 three-bedroom and four-bedroom units with a two-level basement for carparking.

A set of 15 units proposed by Edge on Greber Pty Ltd in 2023 was given the green light by council on June 27.

The units would spread across eight separate buildings with each unit comprised of three bedrooms, two separate living spaces and private open space.

The development is within the vicinity of several other multiple dwelling projects from recent years in Beerwah.
