YESTERDAY marked the start of National Missing Persons Week, which this year focuseson the high number of youths reported missing annually.
On average, 100 people are reported missing in Queensland every week and while many are found, there are still families waiting for news of their loved ones.
Nine people from the Sunshine Coast region are currently listed as missing on the Queensland Police Service website with some not heard from in decades.

Michael Emanuel Bonavia has not been seen or heard from since August 2003 in Caloundra.

Mr Cowan's bicycle was located in bushland near his home in Gympie, but no further contact has been made with family or friends.

Trevor Mountford Smith went to Caloundra on holidays and stayed at Worldmark Resort in Golden Beach in room 702 by himself.
He booked in on March 25, 2003 and was due to leave three days later.
Property was found in his room by cleaners on March 29, 2003, including a wallet, camera and clothing, and airline tickets, but he has not been found.

He is believed to have wandered off and family and friends are very concerned for his welfare, as none of them have heard from him since.
