A $220m apartment complex delivering hundreds of new units to the Kawana Waters community will be completed by 2025.
Habitat Development Group announced their St Clair residential project started construction on February 7 and will feature apartments ranging between two and four bedrooms over eight floors in addition to a rooftop terrace across two residential towers.
Habitat Development Group director Cleighton Clark said more than half of the apartments in the first tower have been sold, with prices from $749,000 skyrocketing to more than $3m for a penthouse.
Mr Clark said his group had been planning the project for several years, setting a record as their largest project yet covering 8976 sq m almost equivalent to the size of a football field.
It is expected the project will employ between 350-400 construction workers, including many Sunshine Coast subcontractors as building material prices start to stabilise, Mr Clark said.
“With rental vacancy at an all time low and very few residential projects underway on the Sunshine Coast, we feel this is a great opportunity to help ease the current housing crisis,” he said.
Sunshine Coast councillor Peter Cox said it was great to see Habitat Development Group launch a project in Birtinya for the first time.
“We’re really excited to have a quality developer like them come to Kawana,” he said.
Mr Cox said residents will be able to have easy access to the future town centre of Birtinya.
St Clair’s facilities will also include a resort-style pool, a BBQ and lounge areas, residential dining room, private terrace and 1000sq m parkland exclusive to residents.
The project is in close proximity to Sunshine Coast University Hospital, Stockland Birtinya and other speciality stores as well as the upcoming entertainment precinct The Station, formerly NightQuarter.
It is expected construction will be complete by the end of October, 2025.
