A TEENAGER injured on Fraser Island during Schoolies Week was helping tourists replace a wheel on a four-wheel-drive when the car fell on him.

The 17 year old from Brisbane was airlifted from Eurong about 7am and taken to Hervey Bay Hospital where he received urgent treatment for shoulder injuries.

The teenager told the crew he and a friend were working on the vehicle when two car jacks gave way.

"The car wheel was stuck, so he's kicked the wheel and the rear of the car has given way and collapsed on his left shoulder," CareFlight Pilot Peter Marris said.

"He's in some pain, but is in a stable condition."

He was on the island celebrating Schoolies at the time of the accident.
