Two firefighters in special equipment broke their way into a home during a fire at Sippy Downs on the Sunshine Coast overnight.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said seven crews attended the blaze at a home on Sippy Downs Dr just after midnight.
It was unknown how many people were in the home when the blaze started.
She said firefighters received the first call about 12.10am and arrived by 12.20am.
“When we arrived the back of the building was well-involved in fire,” the spokeswoman said.
She said two firefighters in breathing equipment forced their way into the home.
The fire was under control by 12.30am, contained to the rear of the house, and was put out by 12.50am.
One neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, recalled hearing a woman shouting “kids, get out of the house” shortly after the fire broke out.
She said she was told the fire was started by an e-scooter.
The home is a duplex with a number of units.
The entire unit was destroyed, the neighbour said.
She recalled hearing popping noises as the windows next door exploded.
The neighbour even piled her own pets into her own car as firefighters battled the blaze next door.
